J Rimell, Esq,
Wolverton Hall
Peopleton,
Worcester.

Dear Sir,

I thank you for your completed questionnaire received on 2nd inst.

The following points have arisen and I shall be glad if you would please reply thereto as soon as possible.

The Eastbourne Mutual Building Society state that they advanced the mortgage in April 1929, and this date would therefore appear to be the date you purchased the property, and not 1932 as stated by you.

As regards the arrears of mortgage interest incurred by you, the Society state that these accrued during the years 1940/42. I presume that this was the period during which you were ill. Will you confirm this, state what the illness was, and what income you relied upon during your illness and from what source.

Please state your occupation and earnings before you evacuated.

Please give particulars of any employment during evacuation other than your present job, and give the dates of employment, including when you started your present work.

How much have you paid in respect of War Damage Contribution on 83 Percival Road?

I gather your property is let unfurnished. I shall be glad to know what has happened to your own furniture, whether it is stored and at what cost, and the date of its removal from 83 Percival Road.

Do you pay any rent for accommodation you now occupy at Wolverton hall?

As regards your liabilities for rates and water rate, I understand the former amounts to £20.0.3d after the deduction of the Corporation's usual evacuation allowance, and the water rate outstanding is £5.7.9d. The Water Works Company have made a concession of one-half of the arrears which accrued to 25th March, 1945, (£9.13.2d), and state also that there is a balance of 11/2d owing which has accrued since the property was let.

I note that you have no other liabilities apart from arrears of mortgage interest, in respect of which I am informed by the Building Society that in December last, a binding settlement was agreed upon whereby you are to pay £3.15.0. a month over two years in addition to normal repayments.

As regards water rates, I suggest you make application to the Eastbourne County Court for a Moratorium Order, and if you will complete the enclosed forms of application (one of which has been completed in draft) and return to this office, I will arrange to file the application so that it can be heard at the same time as the Corporation's application regarding rates.

When replying to this letter, I shall be glad to know what offers you are prepared to make to settle these liabilities as follows:-

(a) the total sum you feel able to pay as regards each claim, and
(b) the sum you can afford to pay each month

I gather you have no funds to be able to offer a lump sum in full settlement, but perhaps you will kindly confirm.

Yours faithfully,

C W Bird

Liabilities Adjustment Officer.
